Don't Miss Our
"New World of Testing"
Digital Series

The power of novel coronavirus to transform the nature of commerce and disrupt settled business operations is evident everywhere, including the global assessment community. The Association of Test Publishers' (ATP) and the 2020 Global Conference Committee introduce as a lead up to the Global Conference (September 14 - 18, 2020), the "New World of Testing (NWT)" digital series. This series showcases the assessment community ingenuity to address unprecedented challenges as well as a myriad of concerns that saddles new, mostly, digital solutions.

These challenges and concerns touch all facets of the assessment enterprise from the science of measurement to data protection and privacy to fairness and equity. The NWT provides a forum for invited experts to share their knowledge and experience with the worldwide assessment community on these and related topics. During the summer months look for announcements about the NWT "Lunch and Learn" digital events. Upon registration, the summer "Lunch and Learn" events are available free to the staff of member and non-member organizations.

Don't miss the first webinar in our digital series: New Psychometrics

Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 4:00 - 5:00 UTC
(12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT; 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM PDT)

The disruptive effects of Covid-19 have impacted not just the testing industry, but also the science on which it is based. The field of psychometrics needs to keep pace with these changes. For more than 80 years, fixed format exams (e.g., MSQs) in physical locations with scheduled administration times formed the centerpiece of assessment. In the era of uncertainty and of digital focus, these methods have become unsustainable. Similarly, some psychometric practices such as those involved in test development and scoring seem antiquated and misaligned with a fluid and exponentially changing measurement landscape. The aim of this webinar is to open a dialogue on the ways psychometrics can continue to remain relevant as the landscape undergoes a shift towards new constructs, new data, and new computational models.

Speakers include:

  • Alina A. von Davier, PhD, Chief Officer, ACT Next by ACT
  • Craig Mills, Senior Vice President for Professional Services, National Board of Medical Examiners
  • AndrĂ© de Champlain, Director, Psychometric and Assessment Services, Medical Council of Canada
  • Nikki Eatchel (Facilitator), Chief Assessment Officer, Scantron
